Romanian Go Federation
Romanian Go, organized at the national level
For players, educators, and institutional partners: the Romanian Go Federation provides the official framework through which Go becomes a competitive sport, an educational resource, and a platform for cultural dialogue.
The Romanian Go Federation (FRGo) is the national sports organization that coordinates, regulates, and promotes the practice of Go in Romania. Its institutional activity began in 1986 as a section within the Romanian Chess Federation, and since 1990 the Romanian Go Federation has operated as an independent sports federation.
The Romanian Go Federation has the status of a private legal entity of public utility. The Federation is autonomous, apolitical, non-governmental, and non-profit, established through the free association of sports clubs and county Go associations. Through its members, the Romanian Go Federation strengthens performance and community development, ensuring uniform standards in organization, refereeing, and training.
The Federation’s Mission
The Federation’s mission is to promote and develop Go in all its forms:
- As a competitive sport, through national championships and selections for international competitions.
- As an educational tool, through projects carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Education.
- As a cultural and strategic vector, within the framework of international cooperation. The Romanian Go Federation represents Romania within the European Go Federation (EGF) and the International Go Federation (IGF).
The Federation’s Vision
The vision of the Romanian Go Federation is to become the main driving force for the development of Go in Romania, by expanding the network of active clubs, increasing the number of registered players, and integrating Go into education, culture, and strategic training programs aimed at youth, teachers, and leaders in society.
